Where Insight Meets Action
When you feel paralyzed by intrusive, looping thoughts and time-consuming, repetitive behaviors, standard talk therapy often isn't enough (and can even make things feel worse). I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), two evidence-based treatments for OCD and PTSD, respectively, to target symptoms that can feel difficult to manage. Over half of the individuals I work with have a trauma history, and approximately half of my clients meet the diagnostic criteria for OCD. Many individuals I work with have already had previous experiences in therapy, with varying degrees of helpfulness or understanding of co-existing OCD and trauma.
In addition to ERP and EMDR, I incorporate principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic/insight-oriented therapy in my work. My approach to exposures and trauma therapy is gradual, guided by a client's values and what matters to them, and deeply relational. I continually welcome feedback from individuals I work with, and I heavily invest in continuing education and professional development to ensure I am up-to-date on best practices and current research.
My dedication to my work extends beyond my education and training to a deeply personal belief in the power of therapy and the innate resilience of individuals. As someone who continually applies the principles I discuss in my sessions with clients to my own life, I know from experience the courage and intention it takes to face one's fears and their past.
